The most popular conversion van is the side-entry minivan but each van has its own specific situation where it excels.

Consider these questions when determining your rental van:

Physical dimensions of wheelchair or scooter

Height: Measure from the floor to the top of the wheelchair users head while sitting in the chair or scooter.

Length: Measure the length of the wheelchair or scooter from the back to the front (taking into account the users feet, footrest, basket, medical equipment, etc)

Width: measure the wheelchair or scooter from side to side at the widest point (whether that is wheel to wheel or armrest to armrest).

Weight: What is the combined weight of the wheelchair or scooter and the user.

Other factors that could influence the rental van you will use:

  • How many passengers will you be accommodating?

  • Will you need extra space for luggage?

  • Will you be transporting any additional medical equipment?

  • Will you be needing hand controls or a transfer seat?

Information to have ready when making a reservation:

  • Current driver’s license for all drivers of vehicle

  • Insurance card with contact info and expiration date

  • Flight information if applicable

  • Pick-up and drop-off dates; times and location if it is delivery

  • Credit card number to confirm reservation
