An auto-kneel feature that lowers the rear suspension and reduces the slope of the ramp for easier, safer boarding and unloading.

Handicap Van Conversions

If you have already purchased a van, you have a couple of different options. To start, you could use your existing van as trade-in credit. If your vehicle is accepted, that credit could then be used toward a new or used pre-converted van. Alternatively, you could request that your current van or ‘chassis’ go through our in-depth conversion process. Understand, however, that not all vans are eligible for conversion. Furthermore, conversion is complex and requires a time investment.

At Van Products, for example, we send qualifying vans to Braunability, a reputable wheelchair van converter. There, the van goes through a multi-step assembly line process that can take anywhere from 60-90 days. Fortunately, while you wait, we offer convenient, affordable wheelchair van rental options so you can still travel with ease.

Also, rest assured that, if you choose this option, your van will be converted using the very best methods to ensure safety and quality. While the exact process can vary depending on the modifications you have requested, it generally looks like this:

All vulnerable surfaces are covered to avoid damage
The existing seating is removed
Interior panels are removed
The floor is lowered to better accommodate wheelchair users
Quality interior paneling and ground effect paneling is installed for a seamless blending of the original and conversion features
A fold-out or in-floor ramp is installed

If you have chosen a side-entry van, your rear bench seat will be re-installed. And, when applicable, the front seats will be mounted on removable raised platforms. With rear-entry vans, the front seats are left unaltered.

Additional Mobility Features
