SURE GRIP Hand Control System

Since 1986 SURE GRIP has become the leader in the disabled driving aids market in both Canada and USA. The SURE GRIP hand control was constructed to serve people with the highest level of disability. The hand controls operate with minimal hand strength and motion. Simply put, the SURE GRIP hand control is known as being the easiest to use on the market for all disabled users. Now SURE GRIP is continuing its innovation by creating the Featherlite series.

What is Featherlite?

SURE GRIP Featherlite (FL) controls are the next generation in hand controls. Featherlite hand controls utilize the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) vehicles electronic signal to manipulate the throttle. This eliminates the need for any mechanical linkage between the hand controls and the vehicles gas pedal. The advantage of this innovation is more leg room under the steering wheel which creates more lap space and decreases the need for a lot of dash modifications. The Featherlite hand controls also add new levels of safety with their one source acceleration technology.  This technology also includes the option to install a city mode switch which can allow for optional throttle sensitivity adjustments. The Featherlite hand controls have an activation button which is an easy and deliberate way to switch between the OEM pedal and hand control. This feature makes it easier and safer for drivers who do not use hand controls to operate the vehicle.

Push / Rock (Left hand and right hand mount)

With this operating system the hand control handle is in the vertical position. To operate you simply push towards the dash for brake and rock backwards towards the ground (drivers body) for acceleration. The unique rocking motion allows full-range braking and acceleration with minimal hand travel while keeping the hand in a natural position.  This style of hand control is best for keeping your hands close to your vehicle’s secondary controls such as the turn signals, wipers, and lights/dimmer.

Push / Right Angle (Left and right hand mount)

This hand control handle is in the horizontal position. To operate simply push towards the dash for brake and pull directly down towards your lap for acceleration. The Sure Grip push right/angle hand control utilizes a short stroke design for acceleration. The main body of the hand control and the brake rod are stationary when the accelerator is applied and only the handle moves. This stationary main body and brake rod improves leg and lap room, requires less dash modifications during the install, and provides a much smoother drive.

Push / Pull (Left hand and right hand mount)

This hand control handle is also in the horizontal position. To operate simply push towards the dash for brake and pull directly back towards you for acceleration. The Sure Grip push/pull hand control uses a pivot point on the right-hand side of the steering wheel which allows for a shorter stroke and greater leverage. The handles position is also at a slight angle which makes a big different to the driver by applying less strain on the fingers and flexible hand positions for lower fatigue and cramping while driving.

Push / Twist (Left hand and right hand mount)

This hand control is also in the horizontal position. This is a motorcycle style hand control that you push forward towards the dash for the brake and twist like a motorcycle throttle for acceleration.  However the main difference is that it has an auxiliary handle which makes the twisting motion easier and allows for more comfortable driving.
